Glimmer of Hope

As the morning light began to peek over the horizon so too did a beautiful woman appear from the edge of the forest near the town. From a distance she seemed to almost be made of light - but surely it must be just a trick of the rising sun. As she slowly moves towards the gates a guard rushes to meet her, so that she may have relative safety on her way into the already besieged town.

If one were close enough they would notice the pause and the confusion on the guardsman's face. Too late, he realized, that the being before him was no mere maiden. A blinding white light poured off of the creature and encompassed the surprised man. The Glimmer continued her journey to the town as the light receded, leaving the guard where he fell.

The last bit of hope was snuffed out like a candle. Sea beasts, otherworldly aberrations, wild fae, and now cursed undead had set upon this damned place. Now only the bravest (or the most foolhardy) of adventurers would be crazy enough to take on such an assault.

And so, from some far off land, four hardened veterans that are no strangers to the adventuring life were beckoned to heed the call and become heroes once more.
